A steep, 26m high slope failed below an existing road on the outskirts of Strabane following heavy rainfall.

Much of the carriageway had been lost, and the road was impassable. Urgent remediation was required, and a design was needed that would meet with Technical Approval (TAS), be practical to install and that could be constructed in a short time frame.

Geoman Ltd. designed a 4m high mass gravity retaining wall at the toe, with a geogrid reinforced crest slope. The design was approved, and the road successfully reinstated.
